One of the things I’d like to do before I leave planet #3 in the solar system, is see an Aurora Borealis, aka the Northern Lights. I’ve seen many pictures of this phenomenon, but I would love the opportunity to see it in person sometime. I found this article today on what scientist believe causes this cool little show. Charged particles and twisted magnetic fields… I don’t understand it all, but I think it’s really pretty.

Um, you think YOU’RE a geek? I wrote an entire feature article on those things. Well, actually the sun spots that cause the eruption of those particles that come flailing towards the earth and enter our atmosphere at the poles, causing pretty things in the sky.
